Perfect Sweet Iced Tea Recipe

Combining the best advice from a number of different recipes online, I can finally now make really good sweet iced tea. My previous blind attempts came out awful.

Here are the steps:

Bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
When boiling, remove from heat, and immediately add 8 teabags. Stir slightly so that they are all underwater.
Set a timer for exactly 10 minutes since you put the teabags in.
When the timer goes off, remove the teabags without squeezing them.
Stir 3/4 cup of sugar into the tea. Stir until it's completely dissolved.
In a 2 quart or 2 liter pitcher, put 3 Tablespoons of lemon juice.
Add 3 cups cold water to the lemon juice.
Add the tea/sugar mix to the pitcher.
Top up the pitcher with cold water up to the 2 quart or liter mark.
Stir and refrigerate.

The recipes I referred to, all said "sweeten to taste". That's a pain in the ass (sip, add some sugar, sip, a little more, sip, ARGH too sweet, etc), so now that I know how much sugar I like, I've made note of its exact measurement for consistency in future batches. If you find you like a little more or less than I do, note down the difference in measurement so that you don't have to guess every time you make it.

Since 1979, Iran has unfortunately been run by an islamic theocracy. Now the US and Israel are picking a war with Iran. Is this to free the people from theocracy? Of course not. They've never done that in any other islamically run country they've invaded. The people are barely noticed while the two right wing regimes (both islamic and american) fight with each other.

This time, they are replaying the old "weapons of mass destruction" scare theme, nuclear style. It's similar to their excuse for starting the Iraq war.

The US and Israel are under the starting assumption that only they, and countries they approve of, can be trusted to produce nuclear power. Personally, I don't trust any gov't anywhere to use nuclear power and would rather see all power sourced from the sun and wind, but that's neither here nor there. The US and Israel are now accusing Iran of producing nuclear weapons (as though they themselves don't have stockpiles of such weapons).

So, as usual, when the US and/or Israel fight other countries, it has nothing to do with freeing the people. I suspect when it's over, the people of Iran will still be living under a theocracy rather than any sort of true democracy or secularism.

If You've Tried Emailing Me...

If you've tried emailing me over the last few months, or maybe longer - I'm not sure, your emails may have been deleted unread by accident, mistakenly put into the junk mail folder. I found out this week that a friend using an @hotmail.com address, had 2 emails not get through to me. I checked my junk mail box, and there they were.

I think what's been happening is that I've accidently clicked "add domain to junk mail" instead of "add sender to junk mail" a few times. Also, I think it was sending some spoofed addresses to the junk mail rather than the real originating addresses.

When I went into the junk mail options this morning, I deleted everyone and every domain that was on the blocked list, so now no one at all will be sent to junk mail anymore.

Not only was hotmail's domain entirely blocked, but even my own scentednectar.com was blocked. Also, many of my own email addresses were on the blocked list (spammers must have been spoofing them). The entire yahoo.com domain was blocked, and a lot of people from gmail.com were in there, although I don't remember if that domain itself was blocked.

So, my apologies if you've emailed me and I didn't reply. I've been giving the junk mail folder only the most briefest of skimming over before deleting them about once a week, and I most likely missed a number of real, non-junk emails.

The 1920x1080 (already tiled) versions of each, are not able to be downloaded after all, as the zip file kept crapping out while uploading. But the individual tiles themselves made it there ok.

The individual tiles can be used as a YouTube background (select the tiling option), a blog background (or other types of webpage), or as desktop backgrounds. They can also be used as textures in many types of 3d modelling.

These were all made using PaintShop Pro. They are all 512x512 in size, but can be repeated (tiled) out to fill any size.

Recently, there have been a number of incidents where being religiously offended was seen as a good reason to take away free speech. Tomorrow, the 11th is Free Expression Day, including a rally for those in London, England.

The recent incidences of being 'offended', come mostly from islamists, who always try to keep both muslims and non-muslims from expressing free speech that is critical of islam. In theocratically run countries, such 'blasphemy' is punishable by death. The offended islamists, as well as the flakier side of the left, cry 'islamophobia!' or 'racist!' at any non-complimentary view on the religion and its inhumane practices, even though it has nothing to do with race or any nebulous, irrational fears.

Regretting Drunken Sex = Rape, WTF?

In a move that keeps the number of rape victims looking much higher than it really is, the FBI has redefined rape to include consensual sex while drunk that one later regrets.

Part of their new definition update is good. The old definition left out men and some variations of rape. However, the inclusion of drunken sex was a very stupid thing. They are not only referring to people who are passed out from being drunk, but also ones who are simply drunk or tipsy, saying "yes", and then regretting their choice the next day.

Here's an excerpt from the FBI's press release. Emphasis is mine.:

The revised definition includes any gender of victim or perpetrator, and includes instances in which the victim is incapable of giving consent because of temporary or permanent mental or physical incapacity, including due to the influence of drugs or alcohol or because of age.

There is only one solution to this that I can see. Are the men who are having sex with drunk women not also drunk themselves? In that case, have they both raped each other? Men will have to start considering themselves raped whenever they regret sex after drinking. Goose/gander and all that. Eg: "Your Honour, if I hadn't been 3 sheets to the wind on all that beer, I'd have never had sex with such a woman as creepy/ugly/crazy/whatever as her. She took advantage of me, therefore Rape! Rape! Help me Your Honour!"

There's also another danger to the trend of calling drunkenness "mental incapacity" in regards to sex. Here's what I mean. What if a drunk man really does rape a sober woman? Will he be able to use being drunk as an excuse that he was too incapacitated to realize what he was doing? That may be a bit of a slippery slope stretch, but maybe not. It could be a very effective defence tactic in cases of real rape if drinking gets to mean that one is too incapacitated to know what they are doing in regards to sex. The new definition opens things up for this. Non-rapes could get called rapes, and real rapes could get called non-rapes.

So, to sum it up, even though the new FBI definition has a few improvements in what's counted as rape, it also now includes sex while drunk that one later regrets as being raped. This hugely inflates the claimed number of victims, since many (or most) young adults have sex with people they've been drinking with. Some of them will regret it the next day, joking to their friends about the beer goggles they wore last night before going home with so and so. Even though they don't consider themselves victims in any way, statistics gatherers must count them as rape victims from now on.

Last year, he had to escape from Morocco, due to people there finding out that he is an atheist. Doh! I goofed up in my video about the synagogue and touching the torah as a kid. One of the pictures in it is accidently of an identical looking (to my memory of over 3 decades ago) interior of another synagogue with the exact same name in Quebec. The one I went to as a kid, and which I was referring to in the video, is the one in Windsor, Ontario. I have added an annotation now to the video to appear while that picture does, so that there is no further confusion.

The Gender War (Könskriget) was a 2005 TV documentary by journalist Evin Rubar about radical feminism's influence on Swedish politics. I first saw this documentary last year, subtitled by youtuber Figaropravda. I compiled the 12 parts found on youtube, including the English subtitles, into the one video embedded here:

During the last 25 years, Sweden has become more and more, run by radical feminists, especially a group called ROKS who run a network of women's shelters. They are every bit as paranoid, and as prone to jumping to nutty conclusions, as the radical feminists we know from places like YouTube and the femtheist blogs. Their main belief is that almost all Swedish men are in a satanic pedophile network, raping and killing children for sacrifices.

A really funny thing happened when I originally saw the 12 part version of this last year. I blogged about it, but my blog has a small readership, and the video was in 12 links rather than all in one video, so it's unlikely most people watched it. After I blogged it, I thought how much it needed better exposure to the world than my blog could give it, so (remember, this was BEFORE elevatorgate), I emailed PZ Myers to let him know of this documentary. I pointed out that near the end, it shows how the gov't feminists wanted the universities to be forced to teach their theory of a gender war, and how the schools were against that due to it not playing by the rules of science.

Hahahahaaa, yeah right, eh! I actually believed back then, the things he said about himself, like how he is into facts and against bad science, even though I knew his commenting baboons were totally half-witted wackadoodles out in left field. I got no response to the email, but a while later, one of his articles mentioned that his wife is a Swedish feminist!!! Well, no extra wonder then, that he'd avoid this newsworthy story with a 10 foot pole. I'll bet if he even considered the points made in this documentary, let alone posting or discussing it, he would have been made into Swedish meatballs!

Here's some of what I wrote about it last year:

An organization called ROKS runs 150 shelters for women only, in Sweden. They believe that there is a huge conspiracy network of pedophile satanist men. They have influenced the government to NOT use treatment programs for violent men, even though those programs have been shown to be 70% effective in neighbouring Norway. Instead, they've been having a a 0% (that's zero) improvement rate of their own for 25 years by focusing on spreading the ideology of a gender power war which they believe includes a large conspiracy of satanist pedophile men who rape young girls in order to have them eventually produce babies to kill in satanic rituals. ROKS actively opposes treatment for violent men. Maybe someone should let them know that regardless of what they think has caused the situation, wouldn't it be good to at least in the meantime get rid of 70% of the harm? The real harms of violence, that is, not the imaginary satanist baby killing / girl raping conspiracy.

And while they're at it, how about making both shelters and treatment nonsexist? No matter which gender may be the majority of offenders and victims (and I've heard claims in both directions and in the middle), there ARE definitely both genders on both sides of violence, including sexual violence, no matter who has which majorities. There should be both shelters and offender treatment programs (since it is showing to be fairly effective, does not sound religion based, etc) for both genders. Also, there is certainly a lot of same gender to same gender violence, including sexual, that is obviously not being recognized.

ROKS also believes that women who are domestically abused have no agency. They are brainwashed and can't be believed. While I partly agree in that a chronically abused person must sometimes be shown that they themselves must leave the cage and that the door is wide open, ROKS thinks it goes far beyond that. Many women who have been in their shelters felt extremely mistreated in how they were not believed and their words were twisted. They were pressured to say and agree with things suggested by the shelter workers.

One woman who stayed with them was even forcefully TRAFFICKED by them into a hiding place in another country briefly during a paranoid 'escape' where the shelter staff thought that satanists were about to attack them.

Even though the documentary says that they are non-profit and the shelters are operated by volunteers, it doesn't say whether they get any gov't funding. Here in Canada, so-called nonprofit places are allowed to hire a salaried staff as a core even if some things are run by volunteers. I don't know if that's the case in Sweden also. If so, this also give the people running it a financial incentive to perhaps exaggerate, make things up and deny a useful way of ending 70% of society's need for them.

As is the usual among radfems, they also circulate made up statistics, which the real stats totally destroy. Not like this part of it is any different in Sweden than the rest of the world, mind you. :)

Much of the theory ROKS spouts is influenced by research done by Eva Lundgren, a radfem, who studied violence among fundamentalist christians. Rather than ROKS and Lundgren realizing what I see as obvious, the fact that fundies embrace a nasty sexist submission requirement of women because their biblegod demands it on threat of torture., ROKS and Lundgren seem to have decided that gender dynamics and opinions of xtian fundies must apply to all men everywhere. Lundgren is also considered contraversial in the scientific community because she further claims all that satanist stuff I mentioned above, even though there have never been bodies or other evidence. But who needs evidence when they've already decided on the conclusion?

They are currently trying to force universities in Sweden to teach their theories of violence being always due to a gender power war. The studies used to back this are only those of Lundgren, and they refuse to use any others. This is very bad science, double bad in that Lundgren is considered a bad scientist to start with. The universities are fighting it, wanting to stick with proper independent science and education in what they teach. With help from Margareta Winberg, a radfem in the government there, ROKS forced a gov't review, and is currently pushing this attempt to change education.

If other theories/stats exist, it's only logical that all studies must be compared and looked at. It is quite stupid conclude one is right while refusing to even take a look at what the others are saying.

Quite alarmingly, it turns out that ROKS also accepts the writings of Valerie Solanas as good stuff. She's the woman who wrote the SCUM Manifesto (stands for "Society for Cutting Up Men") calling for the killing of men and an all woman society. She also shot Andy Warhol.

Israeli Theocracy & Ultra-Orthodox Sexism

Below are two videos that are about the bullying that women and young children are getting these days from the ultra-orthodox jews in Israel, the ones known as 'haredim'. These are the same ones we used to call 'hasidic', if I understand this correctly. They treat women in a very similar way to how islam treats women. They have been recently bullying schoolgirls who they see outdoors not covered up enough, spitting on them and throwing things. They have bullied adult women by insisting on them sitting at the back of the public buses. Luckily, most Israeli citizens are against this type of behaviour. The ultra-orthodox are only 10% of the total population, and they are treated as a higher caste.

The men in these religious groups are given special privileges by the Israeli government, which is after all, a theocracy, although a bit of a milder one for the most part than its islamic neighbours. The men get a special welfare if they spend their time on religious studies. They also do not have to serve in the military even though every other person there has to do so for a couple of years once they hit a certain age. Israeli citizens who live a more secular life are not qualified for these privileges.

The videos are of Israeli TV news, showing the bullying that the ultra-orthodox jews are doing to others within their own communities and to anyone nearby. In the first one, a rabbi says that their own (ultra-orthodox) women's immodesty (using wigs to technically cover one's own hair instead of a scarf) is causing their children to get cancer, and that it will also bring about another holocaust!

The second one is about them picking on disabled kids for operating their motorized wheelchairs on the sabbath, and that's even though one of them got a rabbi's ok on it. They also are picking on their mother, slut shaming her for having a male visitor and getting some of her financial aid for the children's disabilities revoked. The video also shows another family whose daughter was bullied (stone/egg throwing, spitting) by these ultra-orthodox jews. Her and her family were chased out of their neighbourhood. Prior to seeing those forum posts, that were made public by Agent Orange, I used to think that modern radfeminism was a weakened-hate form compared to my old cult, having lost the separatism part of it. It appeared to accept men as radfems (eg: bloggers like Laden, Myers, and a number of YouTubers). Now I see that they are not the worst of the current feminists, and that the Solanas style radfem separatism is still alive and well.

The thing I find most interesting in this, is how much fuller into true separatism the women at the forum are. More hateful than both the extended femtheist blogging family of Pharygula and most YouTube radfems.

The femtheist bloggers would be wise to take a second look at where along the different definitions of feminism they have allied themselves. The scale goes from egalitarian all the way to those who have sworn to strive for the SCUM Manifesto elimination of males, so how serious are the pharyngulites and kin? Do they approve of the private forum posts? Would they acknowledge that it's literally overkill?

Greg Laden pathetically wrote in favour of the radfemhub's ideas of eliminating/reducing/altering men through parthenogenesis and sperm manipulation (to make them be only, or mostly, XX's). I'm not going to search for his article sucking up to the radfemhub's hate, but you can find it somewhere on Laden's blog. It was posted on or before Dec. 19th.

I just read a really good article. Islam and "Islamophobia" - a little manifesto, by Russell Blackford, talks about being on the left AND being against islamic laws. I hope a few certain people from YouTube take a look at it.

I've been seeing lately how people I know on YouTube react when I speak against inhumane practices/behaviours that are caused by islamic law. They think (without thinking) that it means I am right wing or racist or 'islamophobic'. People on the left usually avoid speaking out for no better reason than because the right has hijacked the cause and they don't want to be seen agreeing on anything. Remember that old 'enemy of my enemy is my friend' saying? Don't make that mistake.

Just because the right hates islamic sharia law for the wrong reasons sometimes, does not mean that the left has to do the opposite by embracing/tolerating attempts to have sharia courts set up in our otherwise secular countries. The koranic/hadith based sharia laws are unjust and hurt people.

Muslim immigrants are better served by secular laws, which protect them from the horrific practices of the countries that they have escaped from; forced marriage, mutilation, half-worth in court if female, beatings and rapes of wives condoned, unequal inheritances, etc.

Let's take the cause back from the right. Why bother? Well, because the right does not look out for the interest of muslim immigrants who are trying to escape the tyranny of their previous home, for one thing. Only the left will be able to treat them as humans, humans fully deserving of protection via our secular laws. The right fails in that department, wrongly hating the muslim themselves along with the laws. The right doesn't care if the muslims immigrated in order to get away from sharia, they just blame them for bringing it here, mixing the freedom-appreciating ones up with the political-islamist ones who really WOULD be quite happy to bring in sharia as a dual legal system.

The left should be helping to protect immigrants from being coerced (by religious family members and/or local clerics) into sharia courts, and fight against the dual legal system. Those religious laws are especially harmful to women and children. Sharia courts prevent them from having the full rights and protections of our secular laws, which are much more just and humane than the barbaric rules of warring, slave-owning people from around 700 years ago.

Democratic, 'western', secular law isn't perfect yet, but it's fairer, more civilized, and more advanced, than any religion-based set of laws. Also, it can keep getting better, whereas religious laws are seen as already perfect (especially in islam) and they are very reluctant to improve.

Little Future Rapists and Other Terms of Endearment

Currently, In Gender War Outing News...
Over at A Voice for Men, they've been busy uncovering some violent sexism, and naming names like you wouldn't believe. They discovered NOT joking plans and plottings of real life murder and eugenics by radfems, who want to wipe out most men and create a matriarchal future. The exposed writings were posts made in a private forum run by Radfem Hub.

Anyone who thinks a cunt kick or a pocket prank is horrible, should go read the quotes these guys have collected from Radfem Hub's private forum (linked to in the paragraph above). Holy shit! Blows my mind. They also have a further article about these women, and a recorded interview with 'Agent Orange', who snuck into the Hub's private forums pretending to be female.

I don't think the exposed private posts are likely to be out of context, considering what I've seen at their site in their public articles, but AVfM will be releasing the whole threads soon, so context can be seen. I think the posters at Radfem Hub are serious and would do the things they say if they knew they could get away with it. 30 years ago, I was having those same conversations with others, only we didn't have the internet then. I even had my own copy of SCUM Manifesto which I lost by lending out. We would have done some horrible shit if we had had the means and no deterrence (jail etc). It's not only religion that can make people do evil things, but ANY ideology that's believed with enough fervour.

Scale Of Harm From Threats...
This is where a scale comes in to play of how harmful written speech is or isn't. Hoggle's words were far more likely to be jokes and at worst unwanted pocket-touch, whereas at the Radfem Hub, they are quite serious about gendercidal mass murder, selective gender abortions, letting male infants die by not caring for them, and attempts at eugenics or mass distribution of a substance (if one can be developed) that would cause men's sperm to be mostly XX's with very few XY's. That's a bit worse than even the cunt kick, had Hoggle been serious. I hope to read the whole threads soon to double check context, but, even if they're totally joking, it beats any figurative joke that Hoggle wrote in how violent it is.

The radfems at the Hub remind me much, much more of the radical separatist women I hung out with back in my cult years (most of the 1980s), unlike the semi-literate aping baboons at Pharyngula. The women I knew were serious back then about wishing for mass killing of males and/or finding a method for parthenogenesis (having babies without sperm needed plus only female babies resulting), but without any knowledge or potential means of enacting it. They are serious now too, but this time with somewhat better modern knowledge and better potential of doing some of these things. If they can find a way of doing it AND getting away with it, they will, just as me and my friends would have years ago if we could. It's an ideology that has the potential for a lot of real harm, and all of it encouraged and pseudo-justified with indulged-in hate.

Hoggle as a real threat pales in comparison to what these women would do if they could. Pales in both how harmful the outcome would be, as well as intention to really do it.

Back To The Little Future Rapists...
In 1988, my last of many summer trips to the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival, there was something similar said about boys being future rapists. Even though the event was "womyn-born womyn only", males were allowed into the women's areas if they were still so young as to be suckling infants. Older boys had to stay at a separate boys camp away from the festival and were not allowed to attend the daily and nightly concerts with their mothers like young girls could.

A woman with a male infant said she had tried to go to some workshop, and she was told to get out and take her little baby rapist with her. This was even though he was allowed there due to being an infant. The extreme anti-male sector of feminism has been around for quite a while. The festival has been the once a year mecca vacation / musical revival / camping festival for radfems for about 30 years.

I remember another earlier year, joining a campfire of strangers there after an early morning porta-jane visit (yes, we called them that, men's names were changed whenever possible). One woman had some type of big weiner on a stick over the fire. Seeing that it wasn't a normal hot dog, I asked her what it was. She told me they had caught an intruder that morning, and we all cracked up laughing since killing men and eating their genitals was the funniest thing ever. And they say feminists have no sense of humour! :(

By the mid or end of 1989, I was out of the cult and put it behind me without much thought of what the feminists were up to as I went on with my life and having shed the paranoid ideology. When I started seeing the presence of feminists again (online this time), I thought that at least that core of solid hate was gone. I mostly have been seeing blogs/videos/commenters who even accept men among their ranks, and who are actively hetero, neither of which would have been accepted back then.

But Radfem Hub has the full blown, true hate that I remember from yesteryear. I knew there were a few individual women like that still around, but it seems they have now grouped again, and they make up the congregation of Radfem Hub. It's a bit different than the YouTube and Pharyngula baboons we're used to. These ones really would stick a porcupine up your ass if they could get away with it, whereas the baboons know it's figurative and just think it's rape-joke funny (not that they would ever acknowledge that it's a rape joke).

During my last move, I unfortunately lost a suitcase filled with a lifetime of pictures. But fortunately, my roomie Karen, who I've known since back in my cult days has some. She's still looking for the Michigan festival pics (she came with me in 1988 and has copies of most of my pics from that year), but meanwhile she has found this one, dug up from 1986.

I should be arrested for these glasses! Note the necklace is a 'labrys', which is a double headed axe that we used back then as a symbol of feminism and/or lesbianism. Strangely, I wasn't in my usual plaid shirt (I still like those), but instead, one of those new-age gauze ones that were sometimes worn back then.

Feminist False Accusations

If you've been following the aftermath of ElevatorGate, you know that the baboon horde (extended Pharyngulite family), took their bullying of Franc Hoggle into real life in a dramatic warn-the-conferences-cuz-our-lives-are-in-danger.

Well, here in Canada, something similar has happened. A men's rights activist was questioned by the police after someone complained with who knows what rapeflated tale of terror. The police had been told of his writings and activism since they questioned him about that. They knew where he worked and contacted him there, and they questioned him to see if he had violent tendencies or weapons. One can only imagine the violent hype in the original complaint to warrant such a time consuming focus on him. Here's an excerpt:

"I am not placing you under arrest, but I have some questions and I am going to read you your rights."

That was the first thing the prominent Canadian MRA, whom we must now refer to as Mr. X, was told when he walked into the police investigators office. He had been phoned at work the day before by police officials, who told X that an allegation had been made against him that involved the MRM, stockpiling weapons and threats to do harm. They asked him to come in to "answer some questions."

Those questions were largely about his personal life and beliefs, focusing on whether he was a violence prone individual. There were questions about the MRM and MRA’s, and it became clear to him during the course of the interview that significant prior effort had been invested by police officials into studying his beliefs as well as the overall mentality of those in the movement.

He admits to being a little rattled. Making threats of violence of any kind is a very serious matter in Canada. And something like this coming nearly to the day on the anniversary of the "Montreal Massacre," was a bit more chilling. December 6 marks the day that Marc Lepine murdered fourteen women and wounded ten women and four men at the École Polytechnique, an engineering school affiliated with the University of Montréal.

Anyone, and this includes police officials, who has read Mr. X’s blog articles or watched his YouTube videos, knows him to be a level headed, intellectual sort, not given to violence. But it is clear that someone reported otherwise to Canadian law enforcement. The question remains why, but that is likely to never be answered because he was not made privy to where the complaint originated.

Fucking malicious radfeminists, how do they work? Oh yeah, they work by false danger warnings, and by abusing law enforcement protection to get someone in trouble. What was the crime in their eyes, worthy of sending the police out on someone? Not agreeing with the feminist ideology. You see, disagreement and/or questioning things, always means you want to rape and kill them. How do we know it's true? Um, ideological faith anyone?

I think I know who X is, and if I'm right, he's been hated on by both the YouTube radfems and the Pharyngula radfems at various times in the past. Both radfem groups have a history of trying to fuck up the real lives of perceived MRAs. Both radfem groups feel that being offended warrants exaggeration of threat and the right to cry for offline help as though in some real danger. There's a story someone wrote once, something about a boy crying wolf that comes to mind. Fucking up their own cause with these nonsense fears, that is what they're doing. Recently, I have lost four YouTube subscribers who thought I was too anti-islam and that this magically made me racist. These are all people who would be killed for their lifestyles if they were ruled by sharia law, yet were mad that I spoke against it on a few youtube and blogs' comment sections.

If people want call me something like a 'culturalist', that's fine. There are many cultural practices worldwide that I speak out about, but it has nothing to do with the skin colour of the people involved. It's to do with measuring harm and unfairness, things which are GOOD to discriminate based on.

The left ends up supporting horrific regimes (islamic culture is an immoral religion based one), for no better reason than the fact that the right hates them. The left should be against the human rights abuses of these regimes, but they are blind to the fact. All they see are that the right have bad reasons for disliking them, that is, the right doesn't like that muslims are often a darker shade of brown than the typical xtian-right basic beige.

On YouTube and elsewhere, if you speak up against islamicism, you are assumed to be racist/bigot/islamophobe. Not a humanist who's against horrific treatment of people, but a racist. It's totally fine and dandy to speak against and argue with xtian bible thumpers, but if you dare treat a koran thumper the same way, you're being racist and disrespectful. Fuck that.

I often, half jokingly call bras, "boobie burkas". But in Iran, the moral dress code police are actually checking to make sure that bras are being worn. The women can get into trouble there if they don't wear a bra.

As someone who just turned 49, and who hasn't worn a bra since I was 16 (after only a couple of years wearing one), I'm not going to laugh anymore when I call them boobie burkas. Because they really are in some places. At least here, they're optional, despite bras being socially expected.

Canada is too accommodationalist when it comes to religion. If a police officer is so attached to islamic modesty laws that she must wear a hijab to work, then what's going to happen if she goes out on a call and finds that her belief in sharia law conflicts with the country's secular laws that she's supposed to now enforce?

What if she's called to a domestic situation where a daughter wants to flee from a forced marriage, or a child calls 911 due to finding out about an upcoming trip to another country where she will be genitally mutilated before returning home? Who will the devout muslim police officers side with? There are some big conflicts of interests there.

Never Heard Back Regarding the Census

After a few back and forth emails trying to find out if the Canadian Census 2011 was asking my sexual activity status and orientation (common law vs roommate, and straight vs gay questions), I never heard back from them. I referred StatsCan to my case number when I was bugged to fill out the form and heard nothing back again.

Here is a picture of how one household informed them that they were waiting on this case. In this one, note that they also requested separate forms for each person, which must be provided if asked for. This person never heard back from them. No new forms and no resolution to the case number.

Slippery Slopes of Feminism

Radical feminism often uses the slippery slope logical fallacy to conclude horrible things from mild things. The mild situation then gets treated as though it IS the horrific substituted version.

Elevatorgate still rages on, now transformed into other slipped in claims of victimhood, personal harm worries, and offending bad words. Those who are not on Watson's radfem side have been mostly commenting in a few long, long threads over at Abbie Smith's blog, ERV, (here, here, and currently here). The Watsonites/Pharyngulites, have mostly been posting at various Free(from)thoughtblogs.

On Stephanie Zvan's blog over the last few days (note: she's deleted many of the original comments there), slippery slopes were used in the comments to conclude that a blogger named Franc Hoggle was a real life threat based on a figurative insult he wrote, and the fact that he blogs frequently about the ongoing ElevatorGate feuds made PZ decide he is an obsessed stalker too. The question of the thread was whether or not to doc drop his real name, which they said someone gave them.

Zvan, and some of the other femtheist bloggers, passed around among themselves, what they claim is Hoggle's real name. PZ ensured that an upcoming conference in Australia was given the name in hopes that he'll be banned from there. There was talk about informing the authorities!

Meanwhile, Hoggle patiently waits for the SWAT team to come and get him.

Hoggle's crimes? He said about Ophelia Benson, "If I was a girl, I'd kick her in the cunt. Cunt". He also averages approx a blogpost a day, covering the ongoing Elevatorgate feuds with refreshingly crude language, wit and insight. If you think these don't sound like dangerous crimes or anything to lose sleep over, you're right.

But wait a minute, who are the people getting these fainting couch vapours over the cunt insult? Mostly it's the Pharyngulites, the blogspawn of PZ, the anti-Dawkins, anti-ElevatorGuy crowd, the same femtheists who frequently falsely accuse others of being misogynists & rape apologists, and then enthusiastically tell them to shove porcupines and sideways rusty knives up their asses. And here they are freaking out over a figurative cunt kick? Let's compare these figurative threats, since it's obvious that neither side is being literal. So, for the bigger picture, here's the...

Figurative Violence Comparison

So, which of the above figurative threats are more violent in nature? Obviously it's not Hoggle's cunt kick.

The slippery slopes leading from a witty but crude insult all the way to accusing Hoggle of being a probable car bombing, raping, stalker, was as though they were all trying to one up each other in the fear/threat they want to believe is there. Each person trying to find more made up reasons to fear Hoggle and justify the doc dropping than the last.

Exaggerating one's victim card status is pathetic and transparent, but sympathy is an addictive drug.

Tom Martin is suing The London School of Economics for "sex discrimination, breach of contract, misleading advertising, misrepresentation, and breach of the Gender Equality Duty Act." He was studying Gender, Media and Culture and lasted only 6 weeks into it due to the misandry he found being taught there.

If that course is anything like the 'women's studies' courses elsewhere, then I'll bet it's chock full of ideology and suffering a deficiency of facts and legit stats. I can't imagine going to one of those courses while of the male persuasion. The vilifying of men is notorious there. Many such courses have Andrea Dworkin and similar hate literature on their required reading lists. The basic presumption of the courses is that men are overwhelmingly evil and women are overwhelmingly victims of them.

ElevatorGate's Ever Revolving Door

The elevator is a never ending ride, a topic that never stops providing things to think about as well as a good deal of entertainment. I've made a new category for all of my articles that have some ElevatorGate content. Click here to go to the ElevatorGate Category. It starts way back at YouTube Mix #11, where StClairRose, in a video, discusses Watson's first video, the "guys...don't do that" one. That was before I even knew it as ElevatorGate.

For this latest EG post, here's a video below by BlastedGoat. She discusses a number of things including how ElevatorGuy did exactly as we WANT men to do, rather than be an example of something not to do. He accepted her 'no' as an answer. He didn't harass her by trying to get her to change her mind or getting angry, etc.

Rebecca Watson... Scientist or Idiot?

Also discussed, is Watson's hypocrisy of ordering men when they can or cannot think sexual thoughts about her, or 'sexualizing' her as she wants to call this thought crime. The thought crimes of 'sexualizing' along with 'objectifying', have a bad-intention stigma to them. That's what is assumed with men's thoughts but not women's in an equal way.

Do men get to tell women when we should or shouldn't have sexual thoughts? No, of course not, what woman would stand for that? But Watson wants to tell men, as some self declared spokesperson of all women, when they should or shouldn't think sexual thoughts. No one should be telling anyone else when they may or may not have sexual thoughts. EGuy's behaviour was fine. There was no harassment, much less any sort of assault, so the only danger was the fear of danger in Watson's head. She was scared of what she assumed he was thinking, and this was not EGuy's fault. No matter what his thoughts/hopes were, his behaviour was fine.

On many of the feminist-atheist fusion blogs, the indignation has lately derailed to, or maybe strawpersoned to, a great, but feigned, offence over the use of genital-based insult words, like cunt and twat. Well, if they can use the word dick as an insult, too bad, they'll have to hand in their tone trolling cards and accept others being just as rude in an equal way. Next, here's a video by Felch Grogan, that I suspect has something to do with these convenient cases of the vapours that they all get when they hear or see the word cunt. Often those vapours happen in the same breath or sentence where they seem to have no problems when telling you to stick a porcupine up your ass.

The arguments have moved over to a couple of Wikis now too. Due to many of the people who are not on Watson's side of EG, commenting at Abbie Smith's blog ERV (here, here and here), the poo-flinging Pharyngulite monkeys from Myers' blog, have made a page in a Wiki that they run, a page they call the Slimepit, listing many of us who have commented on the opposite side of ElevatorGate at ERV's blog and the feminist blogs.

Their Wiki site seems the usual irrational, unexplained hate one finds on their blog comments, but a little better organized. In response to that Wiki, there is now a new Phawrongula Wiki too, so people can read what it's all about without having to view it through any required feminist goggles. Links:

Challenge To DawahFilms

Thunderf00t is a YouTuber who is known for his videos against islam and his promotion of Draw Mohammed Day every May 20th. DawahFilms is a YouTuber who is known for his proselytizing of islam, trying to convert people to it. Despite pretending to be some sort of friendly moderate muslim, he's a koran-thumper who recently wrote emails to a lot of Thunderf00t's coworkers trying to get him in trouble over his videos. He also endangered Thunderf00t by giving his real name and locale to an islamic group.

Many people over the years have been killed by muslim believers for the non-crime of blasphemy. Draw Mo Day was seen as such a large blasphemy that Pakistan blocked YouTube entirely over it. Obviously, Thunderf00t is probably in a large amount of danger due to this, especially with DawahFilms making sure that Thunderf00t's info got sent to an islamist group. Even if DawahFilms would never lift a finger himself to harm Thunderf00t, he has placed him right into the hands of those who would.

There are 3 groups of people who have strong opinions on this fight between Thunderf00t and DawahFilms. On the far and flakey left, are those who think we can all just be friends and be polite, which will magically cause all the islamic atrocities to end. On the far right, are some racists who hate muslims for being a darker shade of brown than the tan colour that is considered 'white'. In the middle, are people who see it as a humanist matter, the problems being in the horrific cultural/religious practices. I'm in the last group. I'm not a racist rightwinger, nor am I an idealistic do-nothing leftwinger.

Over at Thunderf00t's Blog, DawahFilms joined into the conversation and I issued him a challenge. Here it is:

DawahFilms, I have a challenge for you. People excuse you by saying you are a moderate, and not like those extremist violence condoners. So….

Are you willing to speak out against all, or even any, of the following koran ordained punishments/practices?

★ the killing of people for the nonharmful, consensual, sexual ‘crimes’ of homosexuality and/or unmarried sex?

★ the forced marriages where the female’s father decides who she must ‘marry’ (=sexual slavery if she doesn’t want to but is made to)?

★ the ‘marriages’ (=rapes) of children where vaginal intercourse can happen as young as nine?

★ the condoning of anal/oral rapes of children even younger, eg newborns?

★ the lack of equal rights that all females have according to the koran?

★ the wife beatings that the koran tells husbands to do when she continues to disobey him?

★ the killing of those who have been taught about islam if they still do not believe/practice it after learning about it?

and here’s the biggie….
★ the killing of people for blasphemy, such as that which happened to Van Geogh, and which has pushed a lot of people into hiding, eg Hirsii Ali, Rushdie?

That last one is very important. We all know that Thunderf00t has committed that non-crime bigtime with his Draw Mo Day. So big was it, that Pakistan blocked YouTube altogether.

Recently, you not only contacted Thunderf00t’s workplace, but you also sent his docs to a muslim organization. How are you going to fix it if that becomes a death fatwa now that they have his name and locale?

In advance of your answers, let me tell you that I won’t accept weaselly non-answers, gish gallups, or changes of topics.

He never answered me, so I then wrote:

Well, Dawah, are you going to answer my challenge? It’s looking like you are avoiding it so that you won’t have to admit the truth, which is that you CONDONE and SUPPORT these atrocities. Perhaps you have even COMMITTED them.

Waiting…….. Your silence is giving the impression that you’re not against any of them at all. Not the murders, rapes, pedo-rapes, slavery, etc. That’s the only reason you could have for not answering.

I want to mention, by the way, that I don’t care, who did what first, or about whose personality has been nicer during this fight. The future is what I’m concerned with. If this leads to a death fatwa on Thunderf00t, are the leftwingers still going to think DawahFilms is blameless? Will they say that Thunderf00t asked for it (‘it’ being death)?

Once a ‘blasphemer’s info is spread to islamist orgs, it then gets spread to the mullahs and imams that run them or are associated with them. The idealistic left acts as though death fatwas never get issued by these superstitious assholes and their orgs.

I suspect/hope that Thunderf00t is being protected covertly by the FBI or others. He’s a big target with Draw Mohammed Day to his name. Assholes like DawahFilms spreading around his info to islamists have endangered his life. They have a huge track record of killing those who offend them with their pretend crime called ‘blasphemy’.

In fact, the word 'dawah' means to teach us nonmuslims about islam, and according to their own bloodsoaked koran, if we don’t convert after learning about it, we are kafir and must be killed too. Does DawahFilms speak out against that one ever? You don’t even need to blaspheme to get killed for that one.

I’ll bet that DawahFilms has chickened out of my challenge to speak out against the religion’s atrocities. Let’s see. One of the questions specifically gives the situation of blasphemy such as Thunderf00t is in. Would DawahFilms speak out against what the koran says, which is to kill Thunderf00t? DawahFilms appears to have run off to avoid answering me.

Many people want to play nice with him, and it turns into a tone game. “But he’s polite, so he can’t be bad”. Yep, and if we hold hands and start singing “I’d like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony”, world peace will happen and islamists will stop killing kafirs, raping children and enslaving women.

The flakey overboard left is just as bad as the flakey overboard right who dislike them for being brown and non-xtian rather than for being harmful. The answer is in the humanist middle where cultural harm is spoken against. There is nothing wrong or racist about being against cultural/religious practices that cause harm.

If anything happens to Thunderf00t, there will be a lot of backpedalling. All of a sudden people will be saying it’s unconnected to Thunderf00t’s fights with DawahFilms, or that they knew all along that DawahFilms was up to no good but didn’t say anything for some made-up reason, or that they really meant the opposite when they earlier said such and such, etc. It’s all fun and games until someone pokes out an eye or an internal organ. And let’s not forget the inevitable victim blamers. The ones who will partly excuse the murder with “you shouldn’t have offended him, he was provoked you know”.

Some people say that they don't like Thunderf00t's personality and that DawahFilms is such a nice guy. Yet, only one of those two is promoting a book that orders that violence be done. Therefore, it is only that one (DawahFilms) who I am asking to say publicly that it’s wrong. Not in a weaselly roundabout way, but to speak out against the actual passages that order these things in the koran.

What I want to hear should start with “the koran is wrong where it says we must do this or that”, not something weaselly like “this particular person didn’t reeeaaally do that crime enough to punish her/him”. I want to hear him say the koran is actually wrong and should never be followed regarding all the atrocious punishments and practices that I listed above.

He won’t do that though, I'll bet. If he did, he’d not be allowed back into a mosque except to face his own punishment, or at minimum being called an infidel and booted out, since he lives in North America – a non-sharia part of the world where the murder punishment is more difficult to get away with.

Even saying that he himself could never bring himself to kill a gay person or doesn’t mind blasphemers, etc, isn’t enough. He condones and promotes others who DO practice the laws in the koran, so he must speak out against any and all of those atrocious punishments/practices. No weaselling or special cases used as examples. I want the real deal, which we all know he won’t give, since it would be directly saying the koran is immorally wrong in those regards.

Some people argue that it's Thunderf00t who must speak out, against some of his fans who are of the racist rightwing. He’s not under any obligation to. It’s a side issue, since Thunderf00t’s fighting something a lot bigger than the odd people here or there who say bad words or have racist thoughts in their heads. He’s fighting the actual sticks and stones, the harms of the religion itself. Also, he’s not promoting any racist groups himself, as Pat Condell is said to do with the EDL and BNP.

The biggest obligation I see in this whole thing, is on Dawahfilms. He’s the one who IS promoting mistreatment of groups of people such as all women, all non-muslims (who his koran says can be taken as slaves if not killed), etc. Even (maybe especially) his own group, his fellow muslims, who are routinely horribly mistreated by followers of that book of hatred, the koran, the book which DawahFilms thumps.

Many ex-muslims, such as Hirsii Ali and Maryam Namazie DO speak out against the racist right, but take note: they also speak out against the flakey do-nothing left who tolerate all sorts of islamic atrocities for fear of being called racist or islamaphobes. Overboard lefties, like the ones posting over at Thunderf00t's blog and videos on DawahFilms’s side commenting about petty shit like who presents a nicer tone, or who did what first, rather then the meat of the matter, which is the attempt by DawahFilms to convert and spread his theocratically institutionalized hate, something that’s a lot worse than a racist word dropped here or there by a random rightwing nutter.

I think this has everything to do with religion and cultural practices, and that DawahFilms’s politeness is merely him using tone instead of arguments. Let’s not forget that his main purpose on YT is to evangelize and convert us to a system that is the most barbaric of all the remaining theocracies. Many on the ‘left’ seem to think we can befriend him and tame his message of hateful immoral sharia-thumping, if only we join hands and sing fucking Kumbaya or something.

I hope that those who cry ‘islamophobe’ at the drop of dislike, realize that most of themselves would be among the first killed under the koran’s inhumane laws. Again, I want to point out that this is not an issue of racism, but of horrific religious/cultural practices. There is nothing wrong with being against that.

This is not someone to coddle with “ahh, let’s all be friends”. If his religion had it’s way, I’d be dead dozens of times over for my many nonharmful ‘crimes’, and so would most of you.

This explains why I've heard from people saying it never works when they try to comment on my blog. I do use the embedded form, and I know that at least one of the people trying to comment uses Internet Explorer. I'm going to go change my blog's comment settings to one of the other forms right after I post this, and I'll leave it that way until they fix it. Then I'll change it back.

People are still slut shaming EGuy at various feminist oriented blogs. So let's try a little experiment, shall we? Let's reverse the sexes of the two people in the elevator.

Slut shaming is shaming someone (usually women) for being sexual, or having more partners than the norm, or doing it while not married/committed, or having a type of sex that someone disapproves of, etc. Pretty much any insult or condescension towards someone based on not approving of whatever non-harmful type of sex they have had or hope to have.

With EGuy, he was shamed for making an offer of coffee that he most likely hoped would end up with having sex. Rebecca Watson, and people who agree with her, have slut shamed this poor guy ceaselessly ever since ElevatorGate. It's starting to piss me off due to the hypocrisy as is shown when we reverse the sexes in the same situation:

Picture a Mr. Watson being offered sex by ElevatorWoman. Now picture Mr.Watson making a video telling women not to do that, that they are somehow bad for offering/hoping for some sex with him. Bad for even thinking about sex (that thought crime that Watson calls 'sexualizing' and 'objectifying' when men do it). Wouldn’t we all be telling him to leave her alone and stop slut shaming her? All she did was ask and then politely accept his no. She didn’t push herself on him, just accepted the no.

Why is she bad? Is it unseemly or sinful (thought crimes!) for a woman to be sexual with a stranger? She must be a dirty slut, right? Nope. She’s just been slut shamed by Mr.Watson. She did nothing wrong, but he thinks badly of her for even hoping for sex with him under those circumstances (4am elevator).

If you can see how EWoman should not be slut shamed, can you see how that also applies to EGuy as well? If not, please tell me why it's different. As far as I can see it's a situation of what's good for the goose is good for the gander. And don't bother saying "well she was scared of rape but he wouldn't have been". I'm not buying that. There was nothing to indicate a rape threat in either the actual EG situation or my hypothetical reversed sexes one.

Don't Split The Left Vote

We've got a vote here in front of us, and the majority of people do NOT want Harper and his rightwing, loonytune cronies running things. The problem is, is that the majority of us who are against him, split up our votes among more than one party, each of which is too small to beat Harper's single rightwing party.

The only way that the left majority will get rid of them, is to all vote for ONLY ONE of the opposing left-side parties, and not dilute our votes among a bunch of them.

The best choice seems to be the Liberals. They are established and not quite as far left as the NDPs and Greens, both of which scare people off as fringe or flaky. The NDP has been in before, and they fucked things up from what I hear. The Liberals have a much better record. The Greens have no experience, and focus on just a few issues without seeming like they are properly thinking things out as a whole picture.

Some may say that no party is perfect, and I am one of those people too, but the 'lesser of the evils' are the Liberals, and they are less evil by a huge amount compared to the others, to the point where I think they'd be mostly beneficial.

For one thing they see that our education and our health care, are important things to protect and enhance rather than reduce. Harper wants his 'who care if the poor can't afford doctors' appalling US style system, and the NDP ended up getting hospitals closed by their ineptitude when they had their chance at running things. The Liberals are our best chance to protect health care and education.

SO LET'S ALL JOIN AGAINST THE CONSERVATIVES. IT'S TIME TO GET THE LIBERALS BACK IN POWER, no matter which of the left parties you prefer. Only the Liberals have the best chance right now, especially with the NDP's Horwath voting along with Hudak over a hundred and thirty something times. What kind of left democratic party does that?

Get out there and vote. I think you now know which party I'm hoping you'll vote for. :)

Putting It Off Until Next Week

The photo protest thingy is on hold until next week.

This week, I think I've begun getting visits from 'Mr. Perry-Men O'Pausal'. Still getting visits from 'Aunt Flo', but have gotten a couple cases of the sweats this week (today and a few days ago). I haven't been in any malaria zones, and being aged 48 tells me that it's possible menopause is beginning, and that I'm peri-, or maybe about to be fully, menopausal.

I'm also not feeling very diplomatic today, or crowd friendly, so it's probably best to stay home. I went to the grocery store this morning, walking there with my bundle-buggy. One my way home, I was on the right side of the sidewalk when some fucking asshole walks towards me, expecting me to move out of his way. Are you fucking kidding me buddy? I don't do that shit. Right side of the sidewalk wins over wrong side. Person pushing shopping buggy (or baby buggy or wheelchair, etc) wins too, no matter what side they're on.

I gave the fucker a look that could kill, one that also said "I ain't fucking moving buddy". This asshole was so upset that a woman wasn't moving out of a man's way, that he stubbornly squished himself between me and the fence right beside me, rather than use the open half a sidewalk on the other side of me. I live in an area with many muslims. This guy was one of them. I assume that he is used to women cowering out of the way, giving men right of way all the time no matter what. I was pissed off and told him he's a fucking asshole. One thing I did NOT do was move out of his path. Nor did I give him any extra room when he did his little butthurt squeeze between my buggy and the fence. Free women don't do that shit, you fucking asshole. In the past, I've had this happen to the point where the man is so shocked that I haven't moved out of his way that we both come to dead stop facing each other, at which point I usually say, "WELL... walk around, asshole. What the fuck's the matter with you?".

This is another one of those things where we women have to not go along with it, or it will never change. I do NOT automatically give men the right of way when they are in my path and I'm on the correct side of the sidewalk.

Another place, where something similar often happens, is on the subway and buses. If you're female, you'll have definitely had the experience of some asshole, sitting beside you, opening his legs to the extent that he's taking up part of your seat. I turn into super-bitch when that happens, opening my own legs rather violently to shove his legs back within his own seat's area. Sometimes they start to object with a hurt "hey...". That's easy to respond to. "Too bad buddy, your leg was in MY seat."

What do most women do when that happens? They squeeze their legs closer together to take up less space, so that the man can keep using part of her seat space.

Fuck that's sad and angering to see. The cage door is open 'ladies'. Don't be so fucking 'ladylike'. Don't put up with this kind of shit. These are remnants of the old days. Even in our mostly secular countries, some small bits of the old behaviours remain. They'll disappear quickly if every woman stops encouraging it by going along with the expected female role.

Maybe it's extra good that I'm not going downtown today. I'm too pissed off at idiocy right now. And if it's true that menopause hormones can fuck you up with extra anger, I've got to wonder if that too, adds to the reason why it's best to stay home today. I don't want the headlines tomorrow to say "Woman arrested for slugging theocratic assholes who deserved a lot worse than that". Actually, they'd use different words, not quite so accurate, or on my side.

Don't wait for the world to better itself for you. Just DO IT yourself. Don't cave to being treated shitty for fear of making waves, or nothing will change. Don't be a dumb dishrag-doormat. Don't do any shitty things that are unfairly expected of you.

On these ones, it's US who have change. It's us who have to stop going along with it.

Dundas Square Photo Protest

Well, a one-woman protest anyways. I think I'll be heading down to Dundas Square sometime tomorrow, with my camera. In Toronto here, at the downtown Dundas Square area, David Menzies got assaulted by a muslim woman for filming her as part of the crowd. Her male relatives tried to steal the camera by demanding he hand it over to them, which he did not do.

Menzies had been testing out his new camera on the crowd, when the woman came up to him and slugged him in the face, saying that he's not allowed to film muslims. The police did fuck all, and they refused to press charges.

Oh yeah? We can film in public as much as we like. Any asshole who freaks at that due to their superstitions, can just stay home and hide. In fact, if you're that insistent on forcing your religion on others, demanding people practice parts of it too, well, what the fuck are you doing here in Canada, where our laws are NOT sharia, but secular? Religious violence should be grounds for deportation, in my view.

A couple years ago, muslims tried to force their barbaric superstition laws onto a cartoonist, demanding that people should never draw/depict mohammed. The response to that was that thousands of people did so, in pictures, videos, etc. and there was fuck all the islamists could do about it. I think it's time for one of those actions with public filming this time.

You may recall my column last month regarding an assault that took place at Yonge-Dundas Square.

I was there on a Sunday evening with my nine-year-old son, testing my new camera. Suddenly, an hysterical hijab-clad woman confronted me.

"We are Muslim!" she screamed. "You do not take pictures of us!" When I refused to holster my camera, she slugged me in the face. (Still images of the assault were caught on my camera.) My son and I were then surrounded by a mob, some speaking Arabic.

One individual kept demanding my camera. If I complied, he'd "let" us go.

I broke through the mob and made a beeline to a group of police officers. I reported what happened, and a couple of eyewitnesses, originally from Syria, bravely came forward and told one of the officers what had happened.

After speaking to the woman, he said no assault charges would be laid because he believed the woman's story that she was merely trying to knock the camera out of my hands.

Encouraged by hundreds of e-mails (from Texas to Tehran), I've decided not to let the matter rest. Here's what has occurred since then:

1. I filed a Freedom of Information request with the police asking for a copy of the police surveillance videotape. Apparently, the cops' eye-in-the-sky video camera did not capture the assault. I say "apparently" because I can't verify it. When I asked to view the tape, I was told "privacy regulations" prohibit it. I can see the tape if I consent to having the faces of all individuals digitally distorted. The hitch: Such an editing job will cost me about $900.

2. The investigation was reopened in August (surely not due to the worldwide reaction to this sordid incident?). Earlier this month, I gave a videotaped statement under oath with two 52 Division detectives. The process struck me as more of an interrogation than an interview, in my view just so much "cover-your-butt" window dressing by police. Indeed, one of the detectives informed me on numerous occasions that just because the investigation has resumed, this "doesn't mean any charges will be laid," even though this would appear to be a slam-dunk — an assault caught on camera and eye-witnessed.

3. There's a bizarre sidebar. A security guard on the night of the assault told police I had been at the square two weeks earlier taking photos of individuals and was ordered to stop. This is either a case of mistaken identity or a lie, given the last time I visited the square was August, 2010.

I contacted the security firm's head office in Montreal and told them about this false accusation — even though photographing people in a public place is legal. A spokeswoman said they have no reason to doubt the security guard. And, she added, when it comes to photographing Muslims, this is a "sensitive" issue.

Really?

I have since filed a complaint against the security firm with the provincial ministry that regulates security companies, given it apparently doesn't understand the law when it comes to photography in a public place.

4. Should the detectives decline to press charges, I plan to do so myself. I've had numerous lawyers, paralegals, and even police officers step forward to offer their services in pressing charges as a private citizen.

Epilogue: walking back to the car the night of the incident my son told me: "Daddy, I thought the police were the good guys. Why wouldn't they help you?"

Why indeed?

Back in the early 80s, I believed many natural food claims. There was a time where every day I was planting one tray of wheat seeds into a thin soil layer, and harvesting a different one that was a number of days older keeping them growing in rotation. The harvested batch would get put through a meat grinder which I bought just for that purpose. Then I'd press the juice out of the ground pulp.

The claim made by a number of books I had was that the juice of the very young wheat plant (also called 'wheatgrass') was some sort of super food. It was said to be an almost perfect food concentrated with nutrients, could cure cancer, fight off radiation, give you "living enzymes" which was said to lengthen one's life, and it would detoxify and strengthen one's blood. It was claimed that chlorophyll (the green stuff in plants) was identical to a red blood cell, and all the body had to do was slip in an iron molecule and take out the magnesium (or was it manganese? whatever, likely bullshit either way), and it would have a really easy source of making new strong red blood cells - and not have to struggle to make them like everyone else.

This wheatgrass woo, along with a raw vegan diet was pushed in books I used to have by new age weirdos like Anne Wigmore and Viktoras Kulvinskas.

Well, here's a video that has the real breakdown of this botanical miracle. I was extra shocked at the nutrient breakdown and how blatantly I'd been lied to back then.

One day, I missed a harvest and the next day, I didn't want to waste this liquid treasure of the plant world, so I drank a double glass. Ugh. It's bad enough that it has a sickly sweetness and the overwhelming flavour of a newly mown lawn (which trust me is better smelled than tasted), but I forced myself to drink double. I spent a horribly nauseated morning and could never touch the stuff again. Just as well, it seems.

Ugh, just the sight of that makes me a little queasy. Another downer about this shit, is that over the years, there have been a few sad cases where people believed in wheatgrass as a superfood so much that they killed their own infants by feeding them strictly on wheatgrass juice. Sorry to end on such a downer, but new age magic beliefs can be just as deadly as faith healing beliefs. Watch out for that shit.

Public funding of religions has no place in our otherwise modern country of Canada. The catholics have been getting public money ever since long, long ago. Other religions now take advantage of it too, although to a smaller degree. The money is for running schools that are a religious version of the normal public schools. There are even some places where there are no local secular schools for the residents, so they don't even get to choose, or if they do, it's only if they go through extra travelling hassles for their children.

A history of religion infecting our schools here in Canada can be found over at Wikipedia.

The division of public money between the catholic schools and the normal ones means that many costs are repeated unnecessarily, simply because there are two of them, each needing the same money for their duplicate departments and offices.

Religion should not be taught in schools as factual, period, but this is salt in the wound when the populace is forced to fund their doing it. Preaching and/or holding services for any religion has to stop. It's not fair to anyone, especially the kids being indoctrinated.

Oh yeah, I had a point to get to. The Canadian Secular Alliance and allies are holding a rally at Queen’s Park on September 18, 2011 from 1:30–3:30 p.m. Read all about it at their website here and here. The main points are:

* The end of the over $500 million taxpayer subsidization for the promotion of the Roman Catholic religion. Public funding for the expensive duplicate school system must be eliminated to provide one secular publicly funded school system.

* The protection of equality rights for all students—including gay students—by ending the constitutional privilege afforded Roman Catholics to overrule legislation and the courts in favour of religious dogma.

"Equality for all students means ending privileged access to public schools for favoured religious services," says CSA President Greg Oliver.

Speakers represent a cross section of the religious and non-religious.

Both versions have different cover illustrations for some reason. I prefer the UK cover, which has more of a happy and wonderous style. Religion Registry Lists and Censuses

There is a pastor in the US, Mike Stahl, who has an 'internet church', and who wants a registry list to be made of atheists along the lines of the lists made of sex offenders. He's now made his blog private where he calls for this, so I can't link you to it. Everyone has been rightfully outraged about such a ridiculous and dangerous thing, as I've seen in some blogs and videos over the last couple of days. It would be like a list of who to round up and kill for theocratic governments, or at the least, it would allow fundie neighbours and employers to discriminate against, and make atheists miserable.

A few months ago, when I was ranting about the census, I mentioned a few times about how good it is that one's religion is no longer a mandatory question to answer, but a few Canadians seemed to think that as long as it was our nice gov't collecting this info for promised vague adjustments of tax dollars becoming more fair and up to date, that there was no reason at all not to answer any fucking question they felt like asking everyone. Even about one's sex life. It's frustrating. I often hear Canadians excuse and defend any and all privacy invading question being mandatory, as long as it's the census that is asking.

As for those sex life questions (having sex with anyone you live with? gay or straight?) which are still mandatory, I returned my census unfilled in (yet) and a note saying that I am one of the people awaiting case number 396066-D1175. I haven't heard back from them again, either at the door/mailbox or by email. I'm starting to suspect that they are just not going to answer it or get back to me at all at this point.

Back to religion, making it mandatory on a census (like it used to be here in Canada) is a very dangerous thing. Even if you really, really, really trust your current gov't with your info, do you trust future governments too, automatically and in advance? Do you trust that foreign gov'ts will not abuse your info also? A US military company made the software and hardware for our Canadian census. Do you also trust that no computer hacker in the world might ever be able to access the info and then make it public or sell it?

Regardless, free speech includes the freedom from forced speech. Just like freedom of religion includes the freedom from forced religion. Most people seem to get this concept, except some of my fellow Canadians when it comes to the census version of mandatory info extraction.

Besides this recent christian call for a registry, something else got me thinking about this topic today. On Bluharmony's blog, she mentions her own childhood being raised jewish in the Soviet Union in fear and having to whisper some things.

I'm going to embed below, a video that I also put here a while back during one of my census rants. There is a song in it at the 1 minute point that's in reference to how jews were treated in the Soviet Union. When I made this video, I second guessed myself thinking the song I included wasn't fully about that and wrote so in the video to explain the (not quite) segue. But then, in the comment section, the lyrics writer of this song wrote the following:

"Yes, you are correct. The lyrics of this song were originally inspired by the plight of the Soviet Jews. I know because i wrote them. I was also inspired by Gabor's flight from Hungary. cheers Paul Armstrong."

So ignore my disclaimer just before the song starts. Turns out I had it right the first time. The song starts at the 1:00 minute point if you want to skip past all the ranty stuff in there.

I'm a little behind on all intensive examining, tearing apart, analysing, debunking, and all manners of similar pwnage that Jordan Owen's been doing of Gail Dines' claims and beliefs. This time he's been putting her book "Pornland" under some very detailed scrutiny.

Gail Dines is very anti-pornography. Here's Jordan's series that covers her book up to chapter 6. Plant updates. Most of it a little bad, but not all. We've put off the big order of tropicals until either later this summer, or more likely next June. Too many things got in the way, and it would have been a shitload of work that we chose to bail on. Next year will be fine. These things have to be done in a pleasant way or it defeats the purpose. It would have fucked us up to squeeze it into this summer.

The plants we do have though, the Hoya, the Lemongrass, the Bay, the String of Pearls, and the Curryleaf Tree, are all doing well. The Hoya has been scenting up the entire living room the many times it's bloomed. It started in the early spring and right now has another dozen or so clusters that will open over the next couple of weeks.

I've made some food using the lemongrass to flavour the rice I cooked a couple times. I through it out bay-leaf-style after it's done it's work. Not quite the traditional way to use it, but there's no reason I must. :)

The fragrant annuals were a disappointment though. The Mignonette has only a faint smell, and Karen doesn't even smell that. The Flowering Tobaccos with that fragrant variety name, were only fragrant very close up with your nose buried in it, and not very impressive. I'm sure I've smelt nicer Nicotianas somewhere else. The Night Scented Stocks and the Swan River Daisies died before flowering and I think the soil I gave them sucked (maybe improperly mixed ingredients and additives at factory?). The cornflower only had one that matured to pop out a couple of flowers. The few flowers were quite a beautiful soft scent. And visually beautiful too.

There's is some weird weed I am letting grow in one of the pots of disappointing Mignonettes. It's got 1 to 2 feet long straplike leaves coming from a center base at its soil level. I'm going to encourage it and see what happens. It's got to be more interesting than those disappointing Mignonettes whose pot it's taking over. I suspect some sort of mystery stalk will come up soon with who knows what kind of flowers.

That other unknown plant that I photo'd and posted here a couple months ago, got yanked soon after. It started taking over the pot quite tenaciously too (hard to pull out), and at the time, I was still hoping that the N.S.Stocks would live. I should have let it live and maybe know by now what it was, since the Stocks were dying anyways.

The Lovage outside seems to be one of those biennial types (unless it surprises me next year). It spent it's energy on making some seeds, which I've planted around its base since I'm pretty sure the main one won't be coming back next year.

We have a nice sized catnip plant outside now. I sprinkled some of the bottom settled bits from a commercially bought catnip tub. There are almost always seeds, flowers, leaves and stems that all get put into the shredder and dried to become catnip. Lots of the small little shiny black seeds make it though ok and alive. Even if they are hard to see, just rub some of that bottom-settled catnip into some soil and keep it moist. You'll get a crop. The fresh leaves have a lovely skunk/mint-like scent.

The seeds from the Curry Leaf tree (not many matured) have all been spoken for locally and planted up, with apologies to the people I said I'd send some to by post. There should have been more, but during about a week or two of me not noticing, spider mites took advantage of my perfect indoor habitat to reek havok before I remembered to keep spraying as a preventative for those sneaky fuckers. No matter how well I kill them off, new ones drift in on the breeze or by accidental touch between minimally infected outdoor plants, or whatever. Preventative's the only thing that works on those ones indoors. Outdoors, wind and rain keep them barely noticeable.

I'm not going to bother trying to fix it. I'll leave the setting to show only one post per page for a little while, until that broken one is more than 5 posts away in the past. Then, I'll switch the settings to show 5 on each page or something. Til then, you'll just have to press the 'older posts' button a bit more often. :)

Cell Phone Test

I've been very, very late to the game. Until yesterday I only had a land line phone. I now have my very first Android cell phone thingy and I'm addicted.

However, when browsing my own blog here, I notice that the videos are all oversized and off screen, and that's even though a few weeks ago, I changed some setting to display on people's cell phones better. I think it might be because I've been using HTML mode instead of Compose mode when writing posts.

I don't like Compose mode because it fucks up the formatting on things if I switch to it after being in HTML mode sometimes, but if embedding videos in HTML mode is fucking them up, then maybe I'll have to add all the videos in Compose mode first (it adds them differently), and see if that works on cellphones. It seems I can switch from Compose to HTML with no problem but not the other way around. So, here's a test to see how a video displays on the cell's screen when I put it in using Compose.

For the test, let's see, I've been thinking about the lack of science that the radical feminists have been presenting in regards to the alleged, totally rampant misogyny in the atheist/skeptic communities. Hmm, what comes to mind has to be Thomas Dolby singing, "She Blinded Me With Science". It's a great song. Some form of new wave from the early 80s I think. I liked it back when it was new, and now thanks to YouTube, I can hear it again these days for a hit of nostalgia.

So far, in a desktop viewed preview, the video is about half the size I like, but at least there's a fullscreen button at the bottom right on the video. If this makes it fit onto the cell's screen though, I'll stick to this way from now on.

So, let's test this thing on my cell, right after I hit publish.

I'm pretty sure that I first heard this when I was still hanging out on atheist forums and only starting to discover YouTube. This song, Stockholm Syndrome, by Greydon Square became an early favourite in the music I found on YouTube.

I saw an article at JesusFetusFajitaFishsticks saying it was flagged as inappropriate by someone. There is only one good remedy that I know of for falsely flagged videos, and that's to bring in the Streisand Effect.. So, I've mirrored the video on my channel, and hopefully more people will too. Radical feminism needs some skepticism put into it, not the other way around.

Overlapping into the atheist/skeptic communities, are a handful of radical fundie-femtards (and their politically correct devotees). They indulge in all the attention gotten by manufactured victimhood. They cry false and/or grossly exaggerated claims of sexism being committed by the atheist and skeptic communities, the latest being ElevatorGate. They claim that the atheist/skeptic communities' misogyny is what keeps women from showing up to events in equal numbers as men do. They have concluded that the atheist and skeptic communities need to learn and practice more feminism because there's some intrinsic problem of misogyny, etc. They make demands that they claim will fix the alleged problems of sexism.

The feminist community is in need of a huge dose of skeptical thinking, especially where they attempt to overlap into the atheist/skeptic communities. The ideologies of radical (or gender) feminism need to be examined and scrutinized. Their vague claims of harm from thought crimes, like 'objectification' and 'sexualizing' need to be looked at objectively. Their claims that modern western societies are 'rape cultures' need to be questioned. The various claims of 'patriarchy' causing this, or that, or everything, need some careful lookings at. Is there an actual reality to the claim, an actual harm in what's being complained about, and if so, is it one great enough to warrant interfering in other peoples' freedoms of speech and thought?

The overlap of communities should have caused the skeptical, truth-seeking, inquisitive side to have examined the radfem claims long ago, but people are very scared to question any sexism. It's due to not wanting to be mistakenly thought of as a sexist. Political correctness, peer pressure, and fear of subsequent ostracization keeps people agreeing with any and all claims of sexism. However, these complained-about thoughts/behaviours should be just as subject to scrutiny as anything else. Few people are willing to face the outcry though. Inevitably, any questions or alternate possibilities one brings up are met with an accusation of 'sexist' or 'misogynist'. Even though questioning and examining something does not logically mean one has already come to any opinion (much less a negative one), and even though answers to questions may be needed in order to even come to any opinion or conclusion, the accusations get fired off anyways. Many people unthinkingly jump on the popular bandwagon of being against the designated bad guy, and it becomes a division with one side fighting for their unrealistic ideological and emotional-based beliefs that they are being victimized, and the other side fighting for finding out the truth and fighting against actual harms/injustices.

The irrational radical/gender/fundie-feminists want automatic assumptions of credibility, and they want every claim they make fully believed, including the various numbers and mentions of vague 'studies' that they toss around. And let's not forget that all anecdotes must be accepted as evidence. Let no feminist ever be accused of confirmation bias either. Also, any changes they say they need must be provided (or there'll be trouble!) such as new rules added to conferences censoring sexual speech even though not used in a harassing manner. Yikes!

This little infection we have of radfeminism, needs a dose or two of strong skepticism to keep it from festering and fouling the community. Dab some of that skepticism onto it whenever you come across it. It might sting a bit when they call you a misogynistic rapey sexist, but it'll keep the ideological types of feminism from messing up the legit equity/humanism types of feminism. There will always be an overlap between the atheist/skeptic communities and the feminist communities due to theocratic laws that are sex-based in their injustices, but the radfem segment of feminists love to hog the stage with their nonsense, and it distracts people from real problems of sexism that remain in the world. So keep a wary eye out regarding what's bullshit and what's real when it comes to claims. There's both types out there. Legit claims and bullshit ones. Not all are legit, and not all are bullshit. Scrutinize until you figure it out for each claim. Don't blindly accept anything. Don't blindly reject anything either. Scrutiny will help prevent that sort of blindness. If they give you a 'no scrutiny allowed' type of comeback, the more likely it is, in my opinion, that it needs that scrutiny.

I Do Love A Good Anagram Or Two!

A couple days ago, over in the comments of ERV's Blog, I posted about an Anagram Site. It's an under-rated, under-known about site that is greatly under-utilized. It gives you a list of the possible words/phrases that can be made when the letters are re-arranged from a starting word/phrase, which you provide. It can also pop out animations of your favourites.

Being posted on a well read article and comment thread in the ElevatorGate discussions, word got around about the site, and within only a few hours, it appeared featured on another blog, BlagHag. Despite that McCreight over there is on the other side of the ElevatorGate feud, I think the Anagram site is one that all sides can and should enjoy regardless of one's views on the feud. It's usefulness will last long after this drama and many more have passed.

Last Dregs of ElevatorGate Coffee

Looks like this post is part 4 of the Dublin elevator affair (or non-affair, that is). For my first 3 articles about ElevatorGate, see Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.

It seems that there's a little more left in the coffeepot. It's getting kind of stale, but let's not let it go to waste, shall we? I'm going to put some more links and embedded videos below. I might be missing a few though, since I didn't think I'd be writing a part 4 and didn't bookmark everything consistently. Also, I left a few out intentionally in cases where, even though I otherwise agreed with their opinions, I disagreed too much with what they thought of Dawkins' comment. I still feel strongly about that comment (in favour of it), including the sarcastic tone he wrote it in, so what can I say? I don't want to link to anything that is, in my opinion, overly critical of him for it.

First though, before the links and videos, let me tell you about something - something very funny and ironic considering all the demonizing that's been done of Dawkins during this whole thing.

It's come out now, that BEFORE ELEVATORGATE, Richard Dawkins, arranged for his Foundation for Reason and Science, to pay for the childcare costs at all future TAM conferences. I found out about this today from ERV's article "Dawkins coup de grâce in Vegas". Now logically, since it's mostly women who take on child care responsibilities, providing free childcare might very well increase the attendance of women at atheist/skeptic events. It makes sense, plus it's a nice thing to do for attendees with children regardless of the attendee's gender.

So, here we have Dawkins doing something that will likely encourage female attendance. On the other hand, Rebecca Watson seems to think women are really being scared away because they might get sexist hate mail from misogynist atheists. Watson's conclusions about why there are less women at events than men have no real basis in much beyond some hate mail she's received from atheist men, and she says it happens when she talks about feminist issues. This is NOT necessarily representative of what happens to women in the atheist community. Perhaps it's representative of angry responses to discussions about feminist ideology itself, but not necessarily atheist discussions, not even ones where theocratic sexism is discussed. My guess is that the feminist topics she's referring to, are ones with talk of vague thought-crimes like 'sexualization', 'objectification', and other stuff which is NOT connected to atheism, not even the subtopics of theocratic laws/customs that are specifically against women . In my opinion, sexism is not running rampant in, or intrinsic to, the atheist community.

Personally, and yes, I'm adding my own 2 cents' worth of anecdotes here now too, I've found a huge amount LESS sexist behaviour/attitudes in the atheist communities than anywhere else I've seen (both on- and off-line). With equal rights and fairness at its core, no matter what your discriminated-against group is, humanism is a huge part of the atheist community and tends to be on your side by default. Not only that, but the theocracies that atheism stands up to, are the ones most responsible for the remaining sexism towards women in our world currently. Islam-based laws/cultures are the worst of those, as we all know, but even in the almost-secular 'western' countries, the remaining laws/culture that harm women are the christianity-based ones, especially where reproductive rights are concerned.

Makes me wonder who's doing more to improve the state of women in the world? Is it the atheist community (who do things like help out with the extra burden women often have in child care responsibilities, and who fight against the horrible regimes that mutilate, rape, kill, and enslave women as a matter of routine), or is it the feminist community (who complain about things like how oppressive those 'sexualizing' thoughts that men allegedly have even though they've accepted our "no's" as "no's" politely with no fuss)?

Drastic Measures Album 1979/1980

Miranda Celeste wrote an article about how nasty the SkepChicks have been towards Richard Dawkins. The 'chicks' have started a letter campaign to him (some of them form letters one signs to agree with). I saw some those letters, and they were a collection of 'you don't know what it's like to live in fear of rape' stories, etc. I think some of them were even calling for boycotting his books. I really don't think they 'get it'.

Radical Feminists Attack Richard Dawkins

This past weekend, I leapt into the nasty pool of insane, illogical commenters over at Pharyngula, PZ Myers' blog. That's a blog that has an infestation of radfems as its main commenter pool. Believe it or not, they are an even MORE incoherent and illogical bunch than our dear radfem friends on YouTube. Really. I'm not kidding.

Here's a little background. Rebecca Watson, whose blog is SkepChick, was at a conference in Ireland, and a man who was also there politely asked her to his room while they were in an elevator, and he accepted her "no" without any problem at all. She didn't like though that she had even been asked. She made a video about it. I'll pause my telling of what happened to embed that video here at this point. You might want to skip ahead to about 2:30 to get to the parts about the conference:

So big deal. Whatever. That's what I thought when I first saw this, but it turned out that the feminist side of the atheist blogging community had erupted into outrage. Elevator Guy was now a predatory sexual harasser, if not full blown rapist.

I came across an article by Jen McCreight at her BlagHag blog. She was freaking out that Richard Dawkins had written a couple of comments over on Pharyngula about the situation, on an article there connected to the incident. When I read the comments she was referring to that he wrote (actually, at the time people were uncertain if it WAS him, but that's now been verified that it was), I was blown away and in total agreement. I was also outraged that she had not gotten his incredibly powerful and important point in the first one, and that she was freaking out at him.

So, even though I dislike the comment threads at Pharyngula, I went over there, for what turned out to be a three article long continuing thread of comments, a few thousand of them in total. They are at here, here, and here. So, I went to the first one and found Dawkins' comment. He was eloquently making the point that there is real, and quite horrible sexism happening in the world, while Watson is crying sexism even though nothing bad happened to her.

Now doesn't this say what needs to be said, in a profoundly powerful and moving way? One of the most eloquent uses of a subtle sarcasm ever. And McCreight saw this comment as some horrible brushing off of a genuinely important concern, Watson's fear of Elevator Guy. WTF? And I saw that all the femtards and radfem apologists at PZ's place were also freaking out at him. They accused Dawkins of wanting to ignore a lesser crime just because greater ones exist. He was actually saying that the lesser crime in this case did not even exist at all. And I agree.

We should be applauding Elevator Guy, not putting him down. He did exactly what us women have always been asking for, he took no for an answer with no fuss.

They went on and on about how Elevator Guy must have known that she would be scared that he's a potential rapist since he was making his offer while in an elevator and at 4am after they had all been hanging out in the bar or something. That's when they were actually trying to put forth any reasons at all. Mostly everyone just agreed he was creepy and probably a rapist. Anyone who disagreed was privileged, misogynist, or an evil MRA.

No I wasn't making that argument. Here's the argument I was making. The man in the elevator didn't physically touch her, didn't attempt to bar her way out of the elevator, didn't even use foul language at her. He spoke some words to her. Just words. She no doubt replied with words. That was that. Words. Only words, and apparently quite polite words at that.

If she felt his behaviour was creepy, that was her privilege, just as it was the Catholics' privilege to feel offended and hurt when PZ nailed the cracker. PZ didn't physically strike any Catholics. All he did was nail a wafer, and he was absolutely right to do so because the heightened value of the wafer was a fantasy in the minds of the offended Catholics. Similarly, Rebecca's feeling that the man's proposition was 'creepy' was her own interpretation of his behaviour, presumably not his. She was probably offended to about the same extent as I am offended if a man gets into an elevator with me chewing gum. But he does me no physical damage and I simply grin and bear it until either I or he gets out of the elevator. It would be different if he physically attacked me.

Muslim women suffer physically from misogyny, their lives are substantially damaged by religiously inspired misogyny. Not just words, real deeds, painful, physical deeds, physical privations, legally sanctioned demeanings. The equivalent would be if PZ had nailed not a cracker but a Catholic. Then they'd have had good reason to complain.

I couldn't help but jump into the comment threads, and I did it even though I keep telling myself I'll never put myself through commenting in that place again. :) As usual, I got nothing but repeats of the same bad arguments and garbled illogical nonsense from most of the people responding to me. Yikes. If you want to see me hitting my head against a brick wall due to attempting communication with radfems, check out those 3 Pharyngula articles (here, here, and here). Press CTRL-F when you're there (it'll bring up a little search box in the upper right of the screen), then type in the word: scented. That should bring up all my replies to these unbelievably insane people if you want to see them, including quotes of the idiocy bits that I'm replying to. Take a deep breath first though. You'll rage in frustration at the stupidity.

The best battler of the radfems over there, turned out to be a YouTuber named Integral Math. Over on the Pharyngula threads, he posts under the name Justicar. He's now made 4 excellent videos on the whole thing. Not only does he make some excellent points, but at times he's funny like you wouldn't believe. I was cracking up quite a lot, especially in the second of the four videos. Here are his vids:

Onision Cruelly Discourages Medical Care

Onision is a YouTube character (here and here) with a large subscriber base. He has recently done something absolutely fucking atrocious.

His girlfriend, Shiloh, AKA Draculoh, had some sort of severe medical event, and Onision video-taped it all instead of getting medical help. It was either a neurological problem or a severe mental (psychotic) one, likely the former, since it was pointed out somewhere that her eyes were dilated and fixed during one part, although that could also be caused by some types of drug use or dilating eyedrops, etc.

Now, they have both come out with new videos excusing not getting medical help with lots of bullshit about how one is more likely to come out worse off if you go to doctors, and not wanting to be lab rats etc. I think they are starting an anti-medicine tirade, adding it in to the repertoire of lifestyle advise Onision is known for giving young people. He is already known for being a vegan extremist, and he has a large following. To add such a dangerous fear of doctors to the things he spreads around, is alarming.

Some YouTubers think the two of them faked the medical event. I'm undecided, but either way, the whole thing is quite horrid. No matter whether she really was ill and he didn't get help for her, or they faked it all for views, they are now using it as a jumping off point to introduce their dangerous anti-medical views.

While modern medicine is not perfect yet, it is the best we have. They are suggesting though, that staying home and doing nothing is better. Holy fuck. Here's the videos. Then, the ones they made introducing the anti-doctor stuff, and then a few really good criticism videos made by other YouTubers.

So, that's where I think they're going with this. On an anti-medicine tirade towards who knows what woo (or just wilful neglect only?) they're heading to.

Let's end with some music I was into 3 decades ago, and it's not the shit most radios will try and force feed you. Only one station back then was willing to play the good stuff in Toronto here. CFNY "The Edge" (not to be confused with the club "The Edge" that I used to sneak into to see bands) played the stuff that was too good for the bland, prepared and stamped safe for public consumption, mainstream. Nothing compares to the punk/new-wave/alternative times of the late 70s/early 80s. Here's a few good ones from those times, when I was lucky to have enjoyed them thanks to CFNY, clubs that didn't ask me for ID, and random parties I found myself at back then. The type of weird music that ruined me for anything since. :)

Raven (HappyHooker83 on YouTube), documents on video, life for sex workers who work on the streets, and records CopWatch episodes, making sure people's rights are not infringed on by the police. She also makes videos on another topic as well sometimes. She works in the side of the sex work business that is generally much safer than the street work she reports on. She's an escort and uses online advertisements. Some of her videos discuss that method of sex work.

Even though that way of working is far safer and preferable for many obvious reasons compared to street work or Nevada-like brothel work, there is still a stigma involved and an illegality that must be skirted. From what she says in the following videos, it seems like it is all too easy for unethical advertising businesses to take advantage of, treat badly, and even jeopardize the safety of the workers advertising there, due to not many people really giving a shit about the complaints or safety concerns of sex workers.

In particular, Raven has been having problems with her ads at Backpage lately, with the company making malicious changes to her ads (including potentially dangerous changes to code words for sex acts) and refusing to look into the problem. She is now calling for a boycott.
